Bio
Dean Kennedy was born and raised in Regina, Saskatchewan where he grew
to love the Saskatchewan Roughriders by watching the greats like Ron Lancaster,
George Reed and Bill Baker as a kid at Taylor Field. He graduated from
Sheldon Williams Collegiate and went on to obtain a Bachelor of Administration
degree (with distinction) from the University of Regina in 1986. Following
his graduation Mr. Kennedy articled with a major Chartered Accounting
firm in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan. Dean was encouraged by the firm to
join the Prince Albert Kinsmen Club as a way of getting involved in the
community and making professional contacts. Later Dean moved to Kelowna
and soon thereafter joined the Kelowna Kinsmen Club for the fellowship
which he so missed after leaving Prince Albert. Dean went on to higher
offices on District 5’s council (BC and the Yukon) for the personal
growth that Kinsmen provides its members. Dean was named a runner up for
the Fred Macklin “Citizen of the Year Award” in the 1995 Kelowna
Civic Awards. He currently does subcontract work for Grant Thornton Chartered
Accountants. Dean also builds residential homes on the side, which was
his family’s busy for over 30 years here in Kelowna (Kennedy Homes
Ltd). His hobbies include football, skiing, swimming and other family
activities.
