Bio
Craig Nielsen was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba. His Dad spent twenty years
in the RCMP force and as a result of his job transfers Craig’s family
saw lots of Canada. In addition to Manitoba, Craig spent time in Ontario,
Alberta, and finally British Columbia. Once laying down roots in Tsawwassen,
B.C.. Craig began to enjoy everything the province had to offer including
skiing, golfing, camping, and those great sports teams like the Vancouver
Canucks, Vancouver Whitecaps FC and BC Lions. Craig graduated from South
Delta Senior Secondary in 1988 and went on to complete the Architectural-Civil-Structural
Drafting program at Vancouver Community College in 1992. Shortly thereafter,
Craig moved to Oliver to manage his parent’s small orchard while
they were in the country of Chile for a few years. After a brief stint
in Vernon, Craig moved to Kelowna in 1995 and made it his home. Craig’s
Dad was always involved with helping out in the community in which he
lived (Lions Club, Kiwanis Club, hockey coach) and Craig recalled the
many good times he spent with his Dad volunteering. In 1998 Craig discovered
the Kinsmen Club of Kelowna, and the rest is history. He currently works
for the electrical company FortisBC Inc. as a Distribution Designer. He
enjoys the comraderie and great fellowship that Kinsmen has to offer him;
along with the personal growth that comes from chairing projects and how
that experience he has gained he has been able to take back into the work
force.
